Herbs not working as you expected them to? Here’s some common reasons why

Have you been trying one, or many, herbal formulas with no results? There can be a couple reasons this is happening.

The first, and most obvious, is that you are using the wrong formula. Maybe the horse is displaying signs of ulcers and you are using gut health formulas with no change? Likely, even though you think they may be having a digestive problem, it is actually something else. Every horse is different and displays signs of problems in different manners. While one horse might get cinchy when it has ulcers, another could get cinchy due to a parasite overload or hormonal imbalance. The best way to know if you are treating your horse with the correct herbs, in our opinion, is to get a bioscan done on the horse. It will tell you what is going on with the horse internally and what herbs that specific horse needs to balance their body back out. We have been shocked by the results many times. For example, we had a personal horse that was showing all signs of ulcers but neither of the digestive blends were helping. After getting a bioscan done on the horse, it sure enough showed that the horse had a digestive imbalance, BUT, this particular horse needed our De-Stress product to balance the body back out. While shocked at the results, we went ahead and fed that to this gelding. 4 days in and the cinchyness went away and never returned.  Reach out to us and we can get you in touch with someone we trust that does this!

Another reason herbal products might not be working is the horse is a severe case and needs a bigger dose. If your horse is experiencing very major respiratory, digestive, etc type of issues, it is better to give the herbs multiple times a day to initially heal them. Try doubling the dose and giving it morning and night. Or, if you are able, split a double dose in 3 and give it 3X per day. The more often you can get the herbs into a horse with severe problems, the better it is going to help heal their body. Once you can initially start the healing process and get the more severe symptoms to calm down, then you can go back down on the dose. After a horse has completely healed internally, if you are still using the product for preventative (such as a respiratory or digestive supplement), many times you can cut the dose in half or use it as needed.

Each horse is its own individual and their healing journey will not be the same as any other horses. Sometimes problems can seem to get worse before they get better, which is completely normal if a horse is detoxing or healing after severe damage. It’s not uncommon to feel like more problems are popping up after you start to heal one. A horse’s body is very complex and could have a number of underlying issues that need to be addressed, and as you start fixing one, many times the others will slowly start revealing themselves as well.
